Successful commissioning of the PROMETHEUS laser texturing system

The PROMETHEUS project is in the last 6 months of the project cycle and the PROMETHEUS machine has been fully developed, shipped all the way from Italy to the UK and successfully commissioned at the MTC facility.

The machine consists of a high power nanosecond laser, a direct laser interference patterning (DLIP) unit as well as a high accurate 3-axis motion control system suitable to perform large area texturing at high processing speed.

• ▪ Progress until now: The system is fully commissioned at the MTC and is fully functional.


• ▪ Next Steps: 4 different end-user case study demonstrators will be manufactured with the PROMETHEUS system to create the desired surface functionality required. The demonstrator will then be evaluated to demonstrate its new functional performance.
